Morning walk with Samsung Galaxy Note8

Got hold of the Samsung Galaxy Note8 (to replace my good old Note3)for slightly over a month now. Due to job load, didn't really have the chance to seriously try out the camera. So far only used it for some casual shots and selfie, of course :D. However, this morning I decided to bring my phone along for morning walk, which I normally don't, to try out the camera capability of the Note8. I've set it to Pro mode, which allows me to manually control the settings and save the photos in RAW format so I can further enhanced it later on. Needless to say, I am amazed by the outcome of the photos from this camera phone. It is almost as good as an entry level DSLR. Simply AMAZING!!!

Wonder of Nature

Every year, our house will have the privilege to witness the first sight of spring. Birds will flock around and singing sweetly around the house. Then, we'll see them gathering dried grass and twigs in the tree, building their love nest. ,Not long after, we'll be able to hear small chirpings around. Sweet mother nature music to the ears. However, there's an exceptional findings this year. Not like the other birds resting in their nest, this trio decided to warm themselves up near the air-cond compressor. They will be gone first sight of ray and only be back when the sun goes down. Upon knowing this, my children never failed to glimpse at them twice a day as they are not allowed to peek in the rest of the nest.
Now that I've observed the birds for some time, I noticed that they never shut their eyes! This made me wonder if they do sleep at all. The curiosity took it's toll and decided to capture this wonder of nature yesterday night.

Happy Mid Autumn Festival 2016

During my childhood, lantern festival or mid-autumn festival was a very exciting celebration. We'll lit up beautiful paper lanterns or those colorful wire framed lanterns which comes in many different shapes, mostly goldfish, dragons, chicken etc. We even walked around the neighborhood with our lanterns in hand and friends joined in as we go. But the main attraction was the candles which lead to a mini bonfire :))) As the years passed, we have lesser chance for all these fun. Pressure from competitive education systems and most of all our deteriorating community security has very much discourage all these outdoor enjoyment. Oh well, since we can't dwindle the foresight of lost tradition, we still can enjoy the festival while we still can. No neighborhood walking but hanging lanterns round the garden. No bonfire but mini pits of candles :))) Most of all, a gathering with our most dear. Happy Mid Autumn Festival to all.

It¡¦s time of the year again for merry moments with lots of laughter, food, presents and opportunity to extend cordial greetings to all of loved ones. And as we gather, we talked about what happened throughout the year, the good the bad, up and downs and also the future. Many things were in our thoughts especially the GST is on our back next year ƒº But seeing the presence of my family all wrapped up under the Christmas tree busy unwrapping their presents, it¡¦s the best gift of all. With all the darkness, may you fear not when the candle burns as it¡¦ll lighten your path. Merry Christmas and have a great year ahead.

This is the first time I entered a print-out photography contest. I never thought of entering a print competition as I feel that is a big hassle and is another level of competition. Judges not only look at the photo, but also the print out quality. One fine day, it just struck my mind, "Lets give it a try!". Check available competition, and yes "WPPI's Prestigious Print Competition". A competition competing with photographers from all over the world. The judging was held in Las Vegas WPPI Annual Convention. But the deadline for submission was only 2 weeks away. Without much delay, I selected 2 photos from my collection to enter the competition. Got them printed-out, framed and securely wrapped to be couriered to LA..yup, all the way to LA and the courier charges cost a bomb 88| ..however, everything was worth it when I received a congratulations email from the WPPI's committee few days back as one of it received an "Accolade of Excellence" in the Wedding Photojournalism category.

Happy Chinese New Year

Few days ago while I was finishing up some tasks on my desktop, the aromatic smell of freshly baked cookies caught my attention as my wife took out the first batch from the oven. As the cookies fragrant lingered, the more Chinese New Year mood is in the air! (That's part of reason why I never regret getting her the oven ;) ) Don't get me wrong, this post is not about promoting the oven but to wish everyone healthy like the pineapple tarts, wealthy like the kuih kapit and pretty like the butter cookies..haha..I only have cookies in my head now :>>. Have a great dragon year ahead and Gong Hei Fatt Choi everyone.

I could still remember vividly of my christmas post for last year. Seems like it's just yesterday. How time flies. We've gone through many ups and downs, receiving many good and bad news as well. New addition to the family and receiving a world recognised award from WPPI is part of the good recent good news. Over the weekend, we've just lost a childhood friend due to nature accident. This is one of a very sad news and it's still hard to believe he's no longer with us. Nevertheless, we have to move on and walk towards the brighter side. Would like to take this opportunity to hope and wish everyone for good health, wealth and faith. Have a blast this holiday, Merry Christmas and let us welcome year 2012 joyfully. Cheers~~

The stork has arrived, along with a 3.76kg baby girl on the 9th of September at 3.45pm. When she was placed under the heater, her little hands and feet started to wiggle and kick. The chubby little girl tried to open her sticky eyes for a few seconds and 'pop' they are opened followed by a yawn. Awww..she immediately melt everyone's heart. Knowing her arrival in September, therefore tried to keep my schedule as free as possible for September month to dedicate my time for the family.
