2013..here I come
March 11th, 2013It's been 3 months since my last post. Have been trying to finish up the backlog photos editing and it's finally cleared!! Many friends and readers have asked about updates in my blog or even wondered if I've stopped blogging. So, worry not, I'm back and will update my next post real soon. Sorry to keep everyone waiting and thank ou for staying tune.
Happy Mother's Day
May 11th, 2012How should i start this write up about my Mother..too many things has been playing in my mind whereby memories being rewound to the earliest possible. One thing that appeared in almost every memory frame about her is her laughter. Yup, that's her anti-aging secret if you are already wondering after seeing her picture. Not to exaggerate but recently someone actually mistaken her as my elder sister-in-law
While walking down memory lane about my Mother, I came to realise that being a woman is really not simple and also lots of courage needed. From a lady to a married woman to being a mother, everything was a new journey for her. Without any experience on each of her new journey, she braved herself to take each and every step carefully to bring us up to her best. Without letting go, without giving up and without complain. And most of all, she never failed to laugh no matter how worried she is at certain times. Then, most of my clients which has braced motherhood came into my mind and am wondering their new journey. And now, I am walking hand in hand with the mother of my 3 children. Seeing her going through the same phase of life whereby she single handedly took care of my 3 children without any experince in hand to start with. Amazing isn't it. Therefore, this coming Mother's Day will not be just another day to celebrate but also a happy family gathering which all Mothers hope for most. Happy Mother's Day.
Accolade of Excellence
April 3rd, 2012Link: WPPI's Press Release
This is the first time I entered a print-out photography contest. I never thought of entering a print competition as I feel that is a big hassle and is another level of competition. Judges not only look at the photo, but also the print out quality. One fine day, it just struck my mind, "Lets give it a try!". Check available competition, and yes "WPPI's Prestigious Print Competition". A competition competing with photographers from all over the world. The judging was held in Las Vegas WPPI Annual Convention. But the deadline for submission was only 2 weeks away. Without much delay, I selected 2 photos from my collection to enter the competition. Got them printed-out, framed and securely wrapped to be couriered to LA..yup, all the way to LA and the courier charges cost a bomb
..however, everything was worth it when I received a congratulations email from the WPPI's committee few days back as one of it received an "Accolade of Excellence" in the Wedding Photojournalism category.
My 7th Baby, Nikon D4
March 26th, 2012Finally, I got my long awaited Nikon D4. I made my booking when Nikon announced it's open for booking. As I always pay more attention on ISO performance, I did some reading on it's pre-production review comparison. It claimed that the ISO is better by 1 stop or 1.5 stop. However it is not the case after some test run when I got the camera. Yes, there is improvement, but not 1 stop as people claimed. I would say maybe 1/3 better. But one thing that impressed me is the fast focusing system, much faster and accurate then D3s. The image quality and details produced is simply amazing. The continuous tracking system is awesome as well. Needless to say, I still need time explorin and getting used to some of the settings.
Happy Chinese New Year
January 22nd, 2012Few days ago while I was finishing up some tasks on my desktop, the aromatic smell of freshly baked cookies caught my attention as my wife took out the first batch from the oven. As the cookies fragrant lingered, the more Chinese New Year mood is in the air! (That's part of reason why I never regret getting her the oven
) Don't get me wrong, this post is not about promoting the oven but to wish everyone healthy like the pineapple tarts, wealthy like the kuih kapit and pretty like the butter cookies..haha..I only have cookies in my head now
. Have a great dragon year ahead and Gong Hei Fatt Choi everyone.
Ho. Ho. Ho. Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
December 24th, 2011I could still remember vividly of my christmas post for last year. Seems like it's just yesterday. How time flies. We've gone through many ups and downs, receiving many good and bad news as well. New addition to the family and receiving a world recognised award from WPPI is part of the good recent good news. Over the weekend, we've just lost a childhood friend due to nature accident. This is one of a very sad news and it's still hard to believe he's no longer with us. Nevertheless, we have to move on and walk towards the brighter side. Would like to take this opportunity to hope and wish everyone for good health, wealth and faith. Have a blast this holiday, Merry Christmas and let us welcome year 2012 joyfully. Cheers~~
The Result Is Out!
December 22nd, 2011Link: WPPI 2011 Second Half Competition Result
A month ago, I submitted this photo which I named "Beginning Of A Day" to enter the WPPI Second Half Competition. With 3200 image entries this round, the competition for imaging excellence was fierce. Not only was the entries fierce, the judges were fierce too. No winners were selected for Portrait Glamour and no third winner for both Wedding Photojournalism and Portrait Animal Pets category. Eagerly waited for the result and when I finally received the result through e-mail at 1.30am our time, my wife and I totalling 4 eyes actually missed the word "Second Place"!! Mata sepet or wut @@ Only half an hour later did I realise what we've missed and was jumping for joy. Yoohoo..thought that's a good wrap up for year 2011
No.3??..Yup No. 3
October 17th, 2011The stork has arrived, along with a 3.76kg baby girl on the 9th of September at 3.45pm. When she was placed under the heater, her little hands and feet started to wiggle and kick. The chubby little girl tried to open her sticky eyes for a few seconds and 'pop' they are opened followed by a yawn. Awww..she immediately melt everyone's heart. Knowing her arrival in September, therefore tried to keep my schedule as free as possible for September month to dedicate my time for the family.
