Wonder of Nature

Every year, our house will have the privilege to witness the first sight of spring. Birds will flock around and singing sweetly around the house. Then, we'll see them gathering dried grass and twigs in the tree, building their love nest. ,Not long after, we'll be able to hear small chirpings around. Sweet mother nature music to the ears. However, there's an exceptional findings this year. Not like the other birds resting in their nest, this trio decided to warm themselves up near the air-cond compressor. They will be gone first sight of ray and only be back when the sun goes down. Upon knowing this, my children never failed to glimpse at them twice a day as they are not allowed to peek in the rest of the nest.
Now that I've observed the birds for some time, I noticed that they never shut their eyes! This made me wonder if they do sleep at all. The curiosity took it's toll and decided to capture this wonder of nature yesterday night.

The shot : 200mm, f/8, 20sec exposure (Nikon D4 with Nikon 70-200 F2.8 VRII)

Happy Mid Autumn Festival 2016

During my childhood, lantern festival or mid-autumn festival was a very exciting celebration. We'll lit up beautiful paper lanterns or those colorful wire framed lanterns which comes in many different shapes, mostly goldfish, dragons, chicken etc. We even walked around the neighborhood with our lanterns in hand and friends joined in as we go. But the main attraction was the candles which lead to a mini bonfire :))) As the years passed, we have lesser chance for all these fun. Pressure from competitive education systems and most of all our deteriorating community security has very much discourage all these outdoor enjoyment. Oh well, since we can't dwindle the foresight of lost tradition, we still can enjoy the festival while we still can. No neighborhood walking but hanging lanterns round the garden. No bonfire but mini pits of candles :))) Most of all, a gathering with our most dear. Happy Mid Autumn Festival to all.

The day started beautifully with bright blue sky and chirping birds on trees. Without further delay, my camera went clicking non stop the moment I set foot into Lynn's house. Not long after, the place was filled with laughter, cheers and lots of merriment around. No doubt the merriment were from the groom's entourage and busy obeying to the bridesmaids' requests. After the morning section, quickly proceed to e.City Hotel for their ROM followed by dinner reception. The beautiful day ended with an equally beautiful night.

Moonlight On Sandy Beach

The beach was in total darkness and only has a few blinking red lights which emit a very narrow portion of visible light spectrum as not to distract and less intrusive to those nesting turtles. With only the slightest hint of light from the moon that night, two watchmen were patiently awaiting for female turtles to come on shore. In an expanse of clear sky and calm sea, we managed to capture the ever so serene moonlight on sandy beach.

Photo straight out from the camera's JPEG file. ISO performance, dynamic range and the colour produced by the Fujifilm X-T1 is very impressive. Never regret getting it as my walk around cam. hmmm.... should I get more lens for this baby?

My Retro Cam

Was thinking to put the title "New found love" but worried my other camera will get jealous. It has been a while since I was looking for a retro look camera(mainly just for the look) and there are times I thought of getting the film camera Nikon FM2, but I think it will just be an white elephant sitting in the dry cabinet only. Then when Nikon Df launched in December 2013, I was so eager to get it but when I saw the real product, the look wasn't that appealing. Until last week, I saw Fujifilm X-T1 Graphite Silver and quickly fall in love to it. The functions, speed, and image quality didn't let me down. I started again to browse for the accessories, lens, etc which I used to do when DSLR was a hype 9 years ago. It literally spiced me up getting me head over heels all over again. Another plus point to holding a retro look camera is that I look younger with it :>>:>> Another lame perception of mine :p

It¡¦s time of the year again for merry moments with lots of laughter, food, presents and opportunity to extend cordial greetings to all of loved ones. And as we gather, we talked about what happened throughout the year, the good the bad, up and downs and also the future. Many things were in our thoughts especially the GST is on our back next year ƒº But seeing the presence of my family all wrapped up under the Christmas tree busy unwrapping their presents, it¡¦s the best gift of all. With all the darkness, may you fear not when the candle burns as it¡¦ll lighten your path. Merry Christmas and have a great year ahead.
